Music for Yoko Fukushima's installation "Journey into the Purgatory" Nakanojo Biennial, Japan. Two separated sound pieces mixed in middle of the space, not only for hearing, but for feeling through our body. "The two video works are based on Dante’s Divine Comedy, where the worldview of heaven and hell is compared to the duality of this world. Looking at the middle point of purgatory as this world, this performance work documents the experience of a situation that can move to either worldview depending on the internal movement. Walking on the averaging table while balancing two contrasting sound sources, one above and one below in the exhibition space, suggests the focus of the two mixed sounds in purgatory. Expressing that the individual’s consciousness determines the focus of perception brings out a moderate theory of balance."
