EDNOS : Ecrits De Nuit sur Opéra du Sommeil. Ecrits de Virgile Novarina, extraits de ses 5000 "Ecrits et dessins de nuit". Musique de Valérie Vivancos, à partir de son "Opéra du sommeil" °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° For more than 15 years, Virgile Novarina has been exploring his own sleep through writing and drawing and other people’s sleep through photography and video. He has published six books gathering night’s writings and drawings out of more than 5000 he has collected. Since 2006 the very act of sleeping has become an integral part of his practice. During his "En somme" series of performances he sleeps in public in shop windows, galleries and museums. In 2002, as part of the the Contemplation Room show in Copenhagen, Valérie Vivancos created The Sleep In Opera, a participatory performance in which she invited the audience to sleep in a bunker under the Hans Christian Ørstedn park. The background research had taken place in a neurological centre specialised in sleep disorders (Hopital Guy de Chauliac, Montpellier). The sound documenting the whole experienced were later used for a composition. In 2005, the writer and critic Sarane Alexandrian, former member of the Surrealist movement, saw kindred directions in the work of both artists and suggested they meet. This resulted in a series of collaboration including these 7 pieces for radio, 3 of which were broadcast from 14 to 18 December 2009 in Passionnément Bis, the Contemporary Poetry program of Marseille's CIPM. For EDNOS, Valérie Vivancos recorded Virgile Novarina reading from selected bilingual occurrences jolted down during his sleep and re-composed them with segments from her sonic work around sleep.creditsreleased December 14, 2009 Drawing:: Virgile Novarina Mastering: Valérie Vivancostags
